My cruising speed is usually 65mph. On cold mornings I can cruise at 70mph (I don't know why). I've tried winding her out and only reached 85mph. I have modified my carb (white spacer, main re-jet) and have a less restrictive pipe. I think it accelerates better and stronger, but top end speed has not changed from stock. If your looking for speed, don't by the Savage. If your looking for a motorcycle that is uncomplicated, easy on maintenance, gets good gas mileage, has style and character and has a small but true fan club..by a Savage.
